Welcome To Globetrotter Culture

Welcome to Globetrotter Culture. My name is Trottin’ Rod (Rodney) and I’m the founder of Globetrotter Culture. While I’m a citizen of the United States, I consider myself to be a global citizen and live between Portugal and the US while traveling to other countries, cities, and towns of interest. Although I’ve been to six of the seven continents, I still have many countries to visit to broaden my personal perspectives and bring the knowledge, information, and relationships to the Globetrotter Culture Community. I’ll be sharing more of my journey with you in subsequent blogs / vlogs and other content, so stay tuned.

The development of Globetrotter Culture is to share knowledge, tips, perspectives, insight and much more from a group of multicultural travel enthusiasts, expats, and locals of OG (old generation) and NG (new generation) from around the world. Our goal is to provide our community with content, opportunities and more that will enable the community to thrive in the world of global travel, expat living, location-independence work, and cultural awareness with diversity and inclusion.

While you will hear, read, listen to, and interact with some of my blog / vlog posts, and other community events, Globetrotter Culture is not about me. It is a collective effort of multicultural contributors to bring forth various perspectives, tips, and opportunities for the community to make more informed decisions for your travel, location-independent work and living abroad lifestyle.

Taking a step back, author, Tim Ferris wrote a book called, “The 4-Hour Work Week” released in 2007. The release of Tim’s book was during the twenty-first century’s digital revolution that seemed to have sparked “Digital Nomads” and the “Nomadic Lifestyle”. The idea of working fewer hours and establishing a business to generate passive income was golden to many as most corporate personnel were overworked and often “secretly” complained about not having a work-life balance. Tim’s concept spread over the years and has continued to take root in the minds of many that they were cheating themselves by not having the life they really desire.

While it appears as though many of the new generation (NG) or younger people jumped on-board with Tim’s revolutionary words during the time of the releasing of his book, the older generation (OG) felt that they had more to lose and hence the new generation didn’t have as much vested in their careers, jobs, families, and communities and had the opportunity to go for it. As time passed, the infectious revolution of “working to live” and not “living to work” has caught up to more people across multiple generations who became fed up and are seeking the freedom of a “location independent” lifestyle and a life of travel and freedom with a high quality of life and lower cost of living.

Fast forward, today we are seeing the impact of what started to take-off in 2007 and has now changed the way many of us are living and desiring for ourselves in a borderless world.

Whether you’re NG (new generation) or OG (old generation), our hope is to connect and bring value to each other locally and abroad. WELCOME TO GLOBETROTTER CULTURE!!!
